Ridgeview Wine Estate

Ridgeview have led the way in the English sparkling wine revolution in Sussex, crafting classic method sparkling wines from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier since 1995.

Established near the picturesque village of Ditchling, this second-generation family business was crowned Global Winemaker of the Year ‘International Wine & Spirit Competition 2018 and No. 36 in the ‘Top 50 Worlds’ Best Vineyards’– firsts for English Wine. 

The family are incredibly proud to have their wines served at a collection of Royal occasions including to former USA President Barak Obama at Buckingham Palace and to the Worlds Global Leaders at Cop26 Glasgow. Ridgeview’s wines are now enjoyed around the globe. 

The vineyard is situated in the beautiful South Downs where visitors can drink in the gorgeous view that gives Ridgeview its name and celebrate the family message which is found written in the neck foil of every bottle that; ‘Life is for Celebrating’.

When to visit

The estate is open all year round for tours, tastings and drop-ins. The new Ridgeview hospitality experience is due to open late Summer 2022.

Do I need to book?

Ridgeview Estate is open 11am – 4pm Thursday to Monday for drop in visitors and sales. Tours available all year round, and can be booked in advance via Ridgeview’s website.

Can I stay overnight? 

For overnight visitors, Ridgeview recommends a range of nearby accommodation in Sussex, including South Lodge, The Grand and The Ginger Pig in Hove.

While you’re in the area

  • Ditchling Museum of Arts + Crafts
  • Walk up Ditchling Beacon for views of the South Downs in the South Downs National Park, or head to Ditchling Common for more gentle walking routes and wildlife-spotting.

Sea Kale

This shingle-loving plant is a speciality of Sussex, often seen along the coast. Its curly, edible leaves change colour from purples to grey-greens as they mature. It blooms with aromatic white flowers in summer.
